"It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known." -Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space
"Indeed, astronomy is a humbling... experience... [and reveals] the folly of human conceits...." To believe that a god created the entire universe, and its chief concern is whether we worship it or not here on earth and that our sins have some sort of "cosmic significance" in a universe that contains billions of galaxies where each galaxy has billions of stars and each star might have a planetary system and other possible life forms, is a DSM classified grandiose delusion. -Glen Brown
