"I can't lie: I have
been trying to avoid the latest Herschel Walker drama with the same energy that
I've been trying not to find out what the hell a Try Guy is. But one is of
national importance. So, here we go: The Try Guys are a—. Just kidding.
"Herschel Walker is a
Republican candidate for Senate in Georgia. He is a former star running back who has lied about
being a member of law enforcement, claims to have come close
to murdering someone who inconvenienced him, and allegedly pointed a gun to his
ex-wife's head—and that's just scraping the surface. Now, he's embroiled in a
new scandal: An ex-girlfriend told the Daily Beast that Walker, who claims
to oppose abortion in all cases, paid for her to have one.
"Walker's
son Christian, a TikTok personality, threw gas on the flames
when he posted two tweet videos this week
calling out his father for lying during his Senate campaign. 'Family
values, people?' Christian said. 'He has four kids, four different
women, wasn’t in the house raising one of them. He was out having sex with
other women.'
"The reason I've been so reluctant to engage with this particular scandal is that it seems almost quaint given the many outrageous things Walker has admitted to, like playing Russian roulette for kicks—not to mention his misguided takes on history and his failure to articulate any sort of a coherent political position beyond opposing abortion.
"The abortion scandal seems unlikely to be the thing to sink a candidate whom
supporters have already stuck with thus far. The situation does, however,
render this Fox News headline about Walker's
Democratic opponent absolutely hilarious: 'Newt Gingrich: Warnock is
running the most vicious and dishonest campaign in Georgia.'"
