What We Really Know and Need to Do Instead of Trump's National Day of Prayer

“It is my great honor to declare Sunday, March 15th as a National Day of Prayer. We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these… No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!” -Trump Tweet

The evil that is in the world always comes of ignorance, and good intentions may do as much harm as malevolence, if they lack understanding… The most incorrigible vice being that of an ignorance that fancies it knows everything…” -Albert Camus, The Plague

What we do know is that hypocritical Non-Christian Trump is appealing to his Evangelical base, and what we really need is to shut Trump up, listen to only medical and scientific experts and not the lying idiots from the Oval Office. What should be done at the federal level to help each state in America? Produce and distribute more ventilators, N-95 respirators, ICU beds, COVID-19 tests, disposable gloves and gowns for hospitals... and create auxiliary hospitals NOW!

What can we do instead of praying? Social distancing and stopping our impulsive shopping panic. Stay home if we are sick. Use common sense. Practice good hygiene: stop handshaking; avoid touching the face; disinfect table tops, kitchen counter tops, desks, doorknobs, light switches, computers, iPhones...; open windows; scrub our hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and often. Reduce our time watching or reading the news; instead, listen to music; play a musical instrument; read books; keep a journal; take walks; exercise; get plenty of rest and stay calm.

  1. Remember: Trump had shut down the office responsible for responding to pandemics. He also defunded the CDC. He was warned by the Obama administration about the possibility of pandemics before taking office as well. Thus, Trump failed to secure tests and take the necessary precautions by ignorantly downplaying the severity of this virus. If Trump had been prepared and had taken action during the first crucial days and weeks, this epidemic could have been contained!
